Green Tip Tuesday

This tip may seem like an easy, no-brainer, but that is the point. As we go about our daily lives it is easy to forget about the simple things that can save money and our precious planet's resources. My tip for today:

Turn off the water when you are brushing your teeth!

Raise your hands if you have ever turned on the water to wet your toothbrush then left the water on so it would be easy to use when you needed to rinse. I can tell you that I am raising my hand. Turning the water on is an almost thoughtless act. Turning the water off should become one too. Why? Because leaving the water on while you brush in the morning and night can waste up to 8 gallons of water according to the EPA's WaterSense. And that is per person. Multiply those 8 gallons a day add up by the number of people in your home and all that wasted water (and money!) adds up. Turning off the water is an easy, no-cost way to save water, electricity, and money.
