Green Tip Tuesday

If you are like most people, you get tons of offers for credit cards and even insurance companies in the mail. This not only means temptation for you (these credit offers can be tempting!) but it means a lot of dead trees from all the wasted paper (and more mail for you to deal with/more trash in your trash can and shredder)!

But is there a way to stop this wasteful practice? Yes! Simply go to OptOutPreScreen.com. You fill out a form online and you can elect to either stop receiving offers for five years or permanently!

You do, of course, have to enter personal information, but the site is secure and legitimate. In fact, it is authorized by Equifax, Experian, Innovis and TransUnion. But if it makes you feel more comfortable, you only have to enter name and address (social security only helps to ensure you do not receive offers). The process is super quick (and painless) and a great way to help stop waste!

You may still receive offers from companies that do not compile their lists using Consumer Credit Reporting Companies, but this one little step can still make a big impact!

  1. I'm definitely doing this. We recently paid off all of our credit card debt and within two weeks of having it paid, we began receiving cc offers again. Yuck! We'll never have a cc again.
